    RED STRING OF FATE HISTORY

"An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet. regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break."

The Red String of Fate is an old story in an East Asian belief originating from a Chinese legend and is also used in Japanese legend about a magical connection between two people that are -(tied together by the gods)- connected by an invisible red string and destined to develop a great friendship, fall in love, or help each other in some way. This myth is similar to the Western concept of soul-mates or a twin flame and this is why we have a pinky swear.

This belief is a reminder that relationships with people are going to continuously change, fall apart, evolve, and improve, and that’s okay - we are connected, nevertheless.

It’s tied to a pinky finger of every person on earth and stretches all the way out to the pinky finger of their soulmate wherever that person is, regardless of time and space. Legend says that the string can get very tangled up but it will never break.

According to Chinese legend, the deity in charge of “the red thread” is believed to be Yuè Xià Lǎo (月下老, often abbreviated to “Yuèlǎo” [月老]), the old lunar matchmaker god who is also in charge of marriages.
